UFC Ultimate Collection is combined of 3 stand alone DVDs that consist mainly of heavyweight showdowns, brutal knockouts, and a quick recap of UFC's 100 Greatest Fights spanning UFC 1 through 98.
The first DVD, UFC Ultimate Heavyweights is by far and away the best of the 3 titles. Comprised of 30 full heavyweight fights, mainly spanning the 2007-2010 years. Only one fight goes the distance, and it's a great introduction for new fans of the sport. UFC superstar Brock Lesnar, Junior dos Santos, Cain Velasquez, Frank Mir, Minotauro Nogueira, Randy Couture and Shane Carwin make up the majority of the bouts, whether matched up against each other or against other fighters. Only one bout goes to a decision, and that's a classic, whilst the majority of the bouts end in the first round by horrific first round stoppages. Shane Carwin fans will love this as it has his entire UFC career up until the recent dos Santos fight. There are 20 main fights, with 10 extras featuring the likes of a young Vitor Belfort, a younger Randy Couture, and original UFC poster boy Tank Abott.
UFC 100 Greatest Fight Moments is just that, moments. It's fine for the casual fan as it has highlight footage of the best moments of each fight, but there is an American NTSC boxset of the full 100 greatest fights that only costs about ?25 on Amazon, and for some reason plays on all DVD players regardless of the region code. The Moments variation is roughly 60 mins long (compared to the 20+ hour American counterpart) recaps in a decent enough way, with coverage of UFC kingpins Georges St Pierre and Anderson Silva.
The final DVD is another knockout DVD, with the emphasis this time being on the rise of the then UFC Light Heavyweight Champions Lyoto Machida and Maurico 'Shogun' Rua. Anderson Silva's 3 minute destruction of Forrest Griffin is included here, as well as Lesnar's rematch with Mir at UFC 100 (which is actually included on all 3 DVDs here), Machida going for the championship in a battle of undefeated fighters against Rashad Evans, and Shogun returning to PRIDE mode against Chuck Liddell and Lyoto Machida. Again the DVD lasts about 60 mins and is a good DVD alongside UFC Ultimate Heavyweights for new fans.
For the price you can't go wrong, it's a great trilogy and will provide hours of great UFC entertainment.
