A decent overall show, UFC 126's main attraction was the UFC Middleweight Championship bout between reigning titleholder and MMA pound for pound contender, Anderson 'The Spider' Silva, and one of the original ultimate fighters and living legends, Vitor 'The Phenom' Belfort. Many thought the former light heavyweight champion Belfort would be too fast and deadly even for the muay thai wrecking ball, and when the fight was over one man certainly proved who was the best striker in the middleweight division.

Aside from the main event UFC 126 featured a returning Forrest Griffin against former middleweight champion Rich 'Ace' Franklin. Griffin was returning from surgery, his last fight a victory over Tito Ortiz in November 2009; Franklin had previously sent UFC icon Chuck Liddell into violent retirement in Canada in April 2010. An interesting. if not explosive, bout helped shape the 205lb picture a little better.

And that leads on to one of the most highly anticiapted bouts the 205lb division had to offer, as undefeated Ryan Bader faced the new phenom of MMA, Jon 'Bones' Jones. This bout was exciting and intense, and it's importance upped by the fact the winner is immidiately told they will face Shogun Rua in a month's time for the 205lb strap. Two wrestlers meet in a very entertaining bout, if somewhat one sided.

Overall the event was entertaining. Some good prelims as well as a vicious main event conclusion, one up-and-comer being granted a title bout after a dominating victory, and a battle of fan favourites and former champions. Highly recommended.
